Red Ribbon Week, Trunk or Treat, Virtual Book Fair, Federal Impact Aid

Hello DWE Families,

There is a lot going on this week!  It feels busy but at the same time it feels refreshing to be in a position in which we can come together and make connections with each other.

Please complete the mandatory annual Federal Impact Aid Form by visiting this link and logging in to your PowerSchool account. If you need help with logging in to your account, please contact the front office at 520-879-2302

This week is the National Red Ribbon Week which is when schools teach their students about saying no to drugs and yes to healthy choices.  Also happening this week, students can “boo!” their teachers with a $0.50 boo card and our virtual book fair is taking place. You can purchase books for your child by visiting the online book fair here. Finally, we hope to see you Wednesday at Skate Country from 6pm-8pm for some fun sponsored by our Student Council!

Please consider taking a few moments to nominate a DWE staff member (or two!) for a Vail Pride Day award.  You can nominate in the categories of: teacher of the year, support staff of the year, rookie of the year, or volunteer of the year.  You could even have your child submit a nomination but the nomination window closes tonight!

On Friday, students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school.  Please be mindful of costumes being school appropriate.  No weapons, no costume masks, no blood/gore, and nothing too scary.  Then, we hope you’ll come back to school at 5:30pm for Trunk-or-Treat. This will be a fun way to see more costumes and get some candy! If you'd like to have dinner at school, the PTA is offering a Papa John's pizza preorder! Grab a large cheese or pepperoni pizza for only $12. Use the following link to view the flier and place your order Pizza Preorder Form (must pre-order by Wednesday!).
Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring and organizing this free event!

In our first week of quarter two (October 18-22) we had no new reported COVID-19 cases!  Moving forward we will no longer be including this information in our weekly updates but you will still receive information if there is a positive case in your student’s classroom or if your student was a close contact of the positive individual.

As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions and we will do our best to help you!
