Hello Families,
This year Desert Willow 5th grade students will have the opportunity to extend their learning by participating in a 1-1 chromebook learning environment. Chromebooks will be issued to each 5th grade student, and students will be responsible for bringing their school-issued chromebook to and from school each day. Students will complete online assessments, group projects, and research using the chromebooks in the classroom. Students will use their chromebooks at home to complete homework assignments and long term projects. This opportunity will provide for more authentic, real-world learning experiences, and will prepare students for the rigorous academic responsibilities of middle school.
Fifth grade families are invited to attend a Chromebook 1-1 Informational Meeting during Open House on July 14th. The informational meeting will take place in the Desert Willow Elementary School MPR from 6:00pm-6:30pm. During the meeting we will discuss:

There will be adequate time to visit your new classroom either before or after this meeting.
The following links will take you to the Vail School District Insurance Policy and the Responsible Use Policy. All families will need to complete 2 online forms (sent out digitally on 7/14) by Sunday, July 17 in order to receive their school-issued Chromebook. One form will be for the Responsible Use Policy, and the other form will be for the insurance; even if your family decides to opt out of the insurance, please indicate so on the form. Purchasing insurance is optional, and families will be able to pay the optional insurance during the informational meeting.
