We have had such an amazing Red Ribbon Week this week!
A big shout out to Mrs. Aros for organizing the incredible activities this week.
We would also like to thank the PTA who organized, and all the volunteers who came out to support our Day of Awesomeness!
Another thank you to the members of the Tucson Fire Department, Tucson Police Department, US Border Patrol, and Pima County Sheriffs for their service to our community and for taking the time out of their day to educate our students about their jobs.
Diamondbacks, we hope that you have a safe and fun Halloween weekend and we will see you next week for the first week of November!
Tonight is the night! We hope you will join us for our annual PTA Trunk-or-Treat event!
Due to the forecasted weather, we’ve made the decision to adjust our plans. When you arrive please first walk through the preschool gates as your first candy stop, then proceed down the main breezeway. There will be ~20 classroom doors open as candy stops that you can visit in any order you’d like. As you make your way through campus, there will be more candy tables in the MPR along with pizza/water sales and our free book table! Our giant chair will be set-up for pictures and we’ll have a volunteer there to help unless the weather makes that too challenging.
There will be middle school volunteers around campus to help direct families as needed and free popcorn distributed to the first 500 families.
Please note: the event will not start until 5:30pm as our volunteers need time to set-up. If you arrive early, you may want to stay in your car if it is actively raining.
Thank you for your flexibility and we look forward to seeing our Diamondbacks in costume this evening! Bring your candy bag and perhaps an umbrella! We will close up campus at 7:00pm.

We have been watching the weather forecast carefully and we recognize that rain is predicted. We will not be cancelling our event but if there is inclement weather we will adjust the route accordingly and guests will utilize our breezeways and MPR.
We plan to make the decision about the route at 4:40pm and will ensure that guests know which ways to go upon arrival. No matter what, the route will begin at the preschool building entrance.

We are so excited to announce that Desert Willow has received an A Rating from the Arizona Department of Education for the 2025-2026 school year! We are so proud of all of the students and staff that worked so hard last year to earn this rating! Diamondbacks we are so proud of your hard work, keep being amazing!
We had much to celebrate during our first week back from Fall Break! We had our Caught in the ACT Assemblies, our Responsibility PurposeFULL People Celebration, and our Kindergarten Community Helpers Parade. It was so wonderful to see and celebrate all the wonderful things that our students are doing across campus. We can't wait to see what the rest of Quarter 2 will bring!

Wednesday is also going to be a big day! It is a half day so dismissal will be at noon (12 PM), we will also be having our PTA Day of Awesomeness! Send you kiddos to school on Wednesday in comfortable clothes that are easy for them to move in and tuck an extra pair of socks in their backpack to change into after Day of Awesomeness.

We are so excited for our Make a Difference on Saturday October 24th! Come on out for 8 - 11 am for a day of sprucing up our wonderful campus. There will be tasks for helpers of all ages so come on out if you are available!

This week in COIL our classes celebrated International Dot Day, based on the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds, this day encourages creativity, courage, and collaboration. In STEM our scientists continued practicing using their senses to explore the world around them. In art many of our classes have been using different art mediums and were creating with watercolors. In P.E. many classes were finishing up their soccer unit by playing 2 vs 2 games. In music our second grade classes were learning solfège and where all the notes of the scale live on 'Pitch Hill.'

Next week we will be having our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences, because of conferences we will be having half days with noon (12 pm) dismissal both Thursday and Friday. We are so excited to get this opportunity to meet with families! If you have not signed up yet there is still time to do so!

In PE with Mrs. McCabe the students learned and practiced juggling a soccer ball. In COIL with Dr. D our 4th and 5th graders did some grammar review, learned about German author Cornelia Funke, and checked out library books. In music with Mrs. Minch students learned and practiced with different rhythms. In STEM with Ms. Fontaine our young scientists practiced making hypotheses and identifying different materials by smell. In art with Mrs. Ingerson students learned about the color wheel and made color wheel flowers.
We are so lucky at Desert Willow to have amazing specialist who are experts in their fields that are passionate about sharing their knowledge with students.

We had two more firsts of the school year this week! We had our first Fine Dining Lunch Experience and the first Diamondbuck Store!
