What a great week to be a Diamondback! We had our "Slime the Principal" assembly to celebrate the minutes read and money earned during our Read-A-Thon fundraiser. Mrs. Owens was such a good sport!
On Tuesday we spent time with our Buddy Classes playing games, reading, and drawing. We were also able to congratulate the winners of this year's Reflections Contest. They wrote music, made movies, danced, and showed the world their talents.
Today we had our first High School Graduate parade. Here is a picture of all the Mica Mountain seniors that attended DWE.

DWE students had a great week! Students had fun in Art, and our third, fourth, and fifth graders walked over to Desert Sky to see a play.
We had another wonderful week here at Desert Willow! In art our first graders made value scale ice cream cones, and our fifth graders are using paint blowing techniques as the starting point for their upcoming project! We also had our April Diamondbuck Store, a huge thanks to Mrs. Coleman and the volunteers who make this a success!
Check out the calendar to see what clubs and activities are still going on. Next Friday also marks the closing of our teacher request window, Friday will also be the last day that students can check out Library books for this school year.

We had another amazing week here at DWE! We celebrated our Quarter 3 Caught in the ACT winners at the Caught in the ACT Breakfast, thank you to our wonderful PTA for helping celebrate these students by providing breakfast goodies and prizes.
We would also like thank the students from Mica Mountain who came to Desert Willow on Wednesday! Our elementary school kiddos loved working with them in class, at specials, all over our campus!

Next week we are finishing up with our state testing! We are so proud of how hard our 3rd-5th graders have been working to show what they know on their tests!

Even with a short week this week there was still tons of learning and fun across campus! Mrs. Anderson's class went on an egg hunt to find math problems to solve, and some of our first graders. got hands on money counting experience with real coins!

On Monday we are Observing Autism Awareness Day. We are also continuing with state testing this week with our Reading Testing for grades 3-5!

This past Thursday we had our second annual AASA Family Night! This night was an incredible event where 3rd-5th grade students and parents got to sit down and preview the AASA sample test and ask questions of the teachers facilitating the event.
A huge thank you to PTA for providing pizza, and drinks for this event and thank you to the teachers who spent their evening supporting our families!

This week was a field of dreams here at Desert Willow! Our Kindergarten classes went on a field trip to the Reid Park Zoo to learn about ecosystems and life cycles of animals. The Fourth Grade Classes went on a field trip the the Empire Ranch to learn about the history of the ranch and what ranch life was like in the past and how ranch life is now and how they are different.
Today we had our annual Field Day! It was such an amazing time and we have so many people to thank for this successful time! We are thankful to our wonderful volunteers and Specials team who ran stations and worked behind the scenes to make Field Day run smoothly. Field Day would no happen without the planning and organization of our incredible PE teacher Mrs. McCabe! Thank you all so much for this wonderful day!

Even with a three day week it was packed with fun! One of our 1st grade classes had a cooking exploration day and we sent several of our 4th and 5th graders and their grown ups to California and they had an edifying and exciting time on their trip!
Next week is bound to be one for the books! We have so many exciting things going on: we have our AASA Snacks, Strategies, and Support Night for our 3rd-5th graders and their families, and we've got lots going on Friday. We will have our Field Day, Free Book Friday from the PTA, and StarBase Graduation for Mrs. Rios' Class.
