There was a whole week's worth of fun and learning packed into our 4 day week this week! Our first graders practiced their attributes of shapes by creating shape monsters. Our kindergarteners practice so many important skills during their calendar time, ask your kindergartener about the days of the week song! Every week kids check out books in the library that are recommended by our amazing teachers and staff! Tiny was even out and about, enjoying the cooler weather and checking on out what all students at DWE are up to!
📅 Don’t forget: Half days for Parent-Teacher Conferences on September 11 & 12! All after-school activities are canceled on Thursday and Friday. Many other clubs and activities throughout the week may be canceled as well, so double check below if yours kiddo's activity is impacted!
We've had another amazing week here at the Willow! We've enjoyed the cooler weather at our recesses and during PE, Mrs. "Coolman" Coleman has been continuing her lessons in classes across campus. Several of our first grade classes got new privacy folders this week from a teacher grant through PTA! Thank you so much PTA for helping our young learners focus on their work!

This week at DWE something super special happened! We had our first Grade Level Buddy Day on Tuesday! Buddies meet once a month to make connections with students in another grade level that they might not interact with on a daily basis. This month our buddies did some get to know you activities, and in the future our buddies may work together on math and reading activities or more community building activities! Ask your kiddo about their buddy!
Check out what is happening at DWE next week! We've got a Site Council Meeting on Monday and a Half Day on Wednesday (dismissal will be at 12 pm, noon!). At dismissal on Wednesday our amazing PTA will be set up sell Desert Willow shirts if you need a new one for you or your kiddo!

We had such another incredible week here at Desert Willow! We had a book filled week with our Book Fair and Free Book Friday. So many kids got books this week and that wouldn't have been possible without our amazing volunteers, thank you! Several of our classes had some Fun Friday time making slime and practicing letters and letter sounds with shaving cream. Mrs. O'Dell and Ms. Sussen's classes went to StarBase again this week! They are getting so much hands on STEM learning on their StarBase days!

We had another amazing week at Desert Willow! We kicked off our Kindness Challenge Fundraiser this week and have already seen so many acts of kindness. In specials many students checked out books recommended by DWE teachers in COIL and in art there was so much creativity and fun! Our amazing counselor Mrs. "Coolman" Coleman has been teaching students across campus about their brains! Ask your kiddo about turtle brain and porcupine brain!
